JOHN CHRISTIANSEN
John Christiansen is a Principal in the San Francisco office. He joined Sard Verbinnen in 2009 after a 15-year career in investment banking. He advises clients on a wide range of investor relations and transaction-related communications activities.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Christiansen was Head of West Coast Equity Capital Markets for Cowen and Company, where he was responsible for the origination and execution of public and private equity offerings in the technology, consumer, health care and alternative energy sectors. In that capacity, he also worked extensively with companies on investor targeting, shareholder outreach and positioning, and investor relations, particularly in their first few quarters after going public or around crisis situations.
Prior to Cowen, Mr. Christiansen was an Executive Director in Institutional Equities at Morgan Stanley, where he helped establish the firm’s Institutional Corporate Marketing group, which worked with companies on their investor marketing activities. He provided strategic investor relations counsel and managed both non-deal and M&A investor roadshows, primarily for clients in the technology sector. Earlier in his career, Mr. Christiansen was a Vice President in Morgan Stanley’s Technology Investment Banking Group in Silicon Valley, and an Associate in Corporate Finance at Jefferies & Co. in San Francisco. He began his career in New York with Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income Division in 1994.
Mr. Christiansen holds a B.A. magna cum laude with high honors from Dartmouth College and a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.
